Ring-tailed lemur monkey
Ring-tailed lemurs belong to the prosimian family. In good weather, the group can be seen in their outdoor enclosure. If it gets too cold for these warmth-loving animals, they can be observed through large windows inside. Our group delights us with regular offspring. Initially, you have to look closely, as the young (single births or twins) cling tightly to their mother's belly.
Their native habitat is Madagascar, where they have unfortunately become very rare due to the devastating destruction of the tropical rainforest. Their distinctive tail serves as a recognition signal for all family members and is regularly rubbed with scent from special glands in their forearms. This striking lemur species is revered in its native habitat as a sacred sun worshipper, thanks to its distinctive way of basking in the sun.
