Red-browed lemur

Red-browed lemur

Eulemur rufifrons

A large mesh aviary with an attached heated enclosure is home to our group of red-fronted lemurs. Just like the well-known ring-tailed lemur, they belong to the lemur family and are found exclusively in Madagascar. Since their habitat is limited to a single island (endemic species) and is shrinking due to agricultural expansion, the species is highly endangered. This makes it all the more gratifying that our animals live in a stable group and have already had offspring. Initially, the animal caretakers had to step in and assist by hand-rearing the young, which fortunately was successful.
