Golden lion tamarin

Golden lion tamarin

Leontopithecus rosalia

In 2020, a pair of golden lion tamarins moved into Jaderpark. With their impressive "lion's mane," which gave them their name, the little marmosets quickly became a visitor attraction. Tiago and Filomena settled in perfectly and, surprisingly, delighted us with offspring in their very first year. This is all the more remarkable as the young mother was barely a year and a half old at the time. Since then, they have been having babies regularly, and the group is steadily growing. Among marmosets, the male carries the young on his back until they are able to climb on their own. This relieves the mother, who only takes the young to nurse them.
