Chilean flamingo

Chilean flamingo

Phoenicopterus chilensis

The Flamingo Lagoon is located directly next to the self-service restaurant. This is home to our Chilean flamingos. You can perfectly observe the life of the small colony while resting under our lime tree, which is nearly 300 years old. As Chilean flamingos are native to the high Andes, they do not mind the cold and snow, so they can remain outdoors even in winter. Only black ice would be very problematic for their delicate legs. At night, they sleep in their house for safety reasons; it is glazed and therefore clearly visible to visitors.
