Hydrochoerus hydrochaeris

Among the largest rodents are the capybaras, also known as water pigs. Our animals live alongside lowland tapirs and giant anteaters in the South American animal enclosure, which opened in 2022. Since their natural habitat is the tropical rainforest, the enclosure also includes a heated house. Visitors can view the interior through large windows. Our capybaras have been delighting us with offspring for several years now.
